October 2016–Chicago-based and highly regarded appellate attorney Kathleen Zellner has graciously agreed to represent Tim in his federal habeus corpus appeal which will take place in the Federal district of Central Tennessee in the court of Judge Eli Richardson. Ms. Zellner has exonerated 17 wrongfully convicted people and is hoping to add Tim to that total. She is currently Steven Avery‘s attorney (of Netflix’s Making a Murderer) and freed Ryan Ferguson from prison a few years ago here in Missouri from a bad murder conviction. It is widely known that Zellner only takes cases in which the defendant is actually innocent of their convictions, which is absolutely Tim’s case. She has identified several issues in Tim’s state appeals where the Tennessee courts erred in upholding Tim’s constitutional rights, and we are retaining her services to right these wrongs. Kathleen is assisted in this case by her associate Nick Curran, and the local Nashville attorney pro hac vice is Ben Perry. We are exceedingly happy to be represented by these massive forces for genuine justice and hope we are in the final battle that brings Tim home.
